Top female midget athlete in Ottawa

Updated: May 15, 2023

Doyin recognized for outstanding performance in Track and Field

At Redeemer’s awards ceremony in June, Doyin O. received the silver medal for the top female midget athlete in Ottawa. Doyin placed 1st in both the midget 200m and 400m and 4th in the 100m at the National Capital Secondary School Athletic Association (NCSSAA) meet. NCSSAA represents the best track and field athletes in the city and medals are given for the overall top three athletes in each gender and age category.

Our track and field team had a fantastic 2017 season. In all, we had 16 members place in the top eight in their respective events to qualify for the National Capital meet. Three students, Doyin O. (200m and 400m), Thomas G. (long jump), and Kyle W. (100m ambulatory), competed at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) meet against the top 24 athletes in the province in their respective events.

Students at Redeemer are encouraged to grow physically, as well as academically and spiritually. A grade nine student, we look forward to seeing how fast Doyin will be in the years to come.
