Chapel Questions & Answers
Information for Chapel Speakers
When is chapel at Redeemer Christian High School? Chapel takes place almost every Wednesday morning from 11:10 to 11:50.
In what order do things happen? Once our student body is seated and ready, we have school announcements. Then we open in prayer and our worship team leads our students and staff in worship. As soon as worship is over, our speaker begins his/her presentation, around 11:25. Because the lunch bell rings at 11:50, we ask our presenters to plan on speaking for no more than 20 minutes (aim for 15 minutes).
When should I arrive at the school? It would be good to get to Redeemer Christian High by 10:55 since chapel starts at 11:10.
Where should I park? You may park in the spots directly in front of our school. If they are full, there is a large lot behind the school. If you park at the back, however, you'll have to walk around to the front and come in the main entrance.
Do I sign in? Yes, the front door is locked. Push the buzzer on the right hand wall and announce yourself. Our office staff will be expecting you and will unlock the door. Once inside, go up the stairs immediately to your right and sign in at our office on the second floor. Our office staff will then direct you to our gymnasium.
Where will I find Mr. Dan Kaiser, teacher responsible for chapel bookings? Dan, our teacher in charge of Chapel speakers, teaches until 11:05 but he'll appear in the gym as soon as his class is over.
Is there a particular theme or a scripture I should speak on? You may speak on any theme, scripture or subject as the Holy Spirit leads you. Our 165 students are between 14 and 18 years old and we are trying to challenge and encourage them in their Christian walk. Chapel at Redeemer is an amazing opportunity for speakers to present ideas that really make our teens think about Biblical truths, God's standards, God's calling on their lives, etc. Please feel free to contact Dan Kaiser to discuss a topic or get clarification on something. The theme scripture for this year (2012-13) is from Ephesians 2:10 "For we are God's Handiwork, created in Christ to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do", and we are intentionally focusing on Christian character.
Can I show a video or play a song? Yes, absolutely. We have a powerpoint projector and a sound system. It is best to bring any videos with you (on USB or DVD), since the internet connection in the gym is at times unreliable. You may want to let Dan Kaiser know ahead of time and come early to set up and test things beforehand with our tech crew. Our tech crew will be in the gym by 10:40.
How should I dress for chapel at Redeemer? Please be comfortable, but neat and clean. As a Pastor, Ministry Leader or Missionary, you are an example to our students. Since our own students must wear uniforms and adhere to a dress code, we would appreciate you take the following into consideration: no bare shoulders, backs, short skirts or shorts, low necklines, tight clothing or ripped jeans. Thank you!
I would like to book a chapel, but can't modify the schedule to add my name. Suggestions? Please contact Dan Kaiser and he will try and modify the schedule to fit you in.
Why do some dates on the chapel schedule say "reserved" beside them? We often get last minute proposals from groups or speakers who would like to make a presentation (i.e. touring groups, missionaries on leave, etc.) This gives them an opportunity to have a voice in our school too. However, if those dates are not filled by last-minute presenters, we will often call on chapel speakers to fill them on short notice.
