Transportation to Redeemer Christian High School is the responsibility of our parents/guardians. Many of our students use city transit or families join together for car-pooling. Others have joined together to organize several bus routes on a cost recovery basis.
Redeemer currently has a contract, on behalf of the parents, with a bus company to provide service to families south of Ottawa. This bus starts in Winchester and proceeds north along Highway 31, then goes west over to 8th Line Road, north to Victoria Street in Metcalfe and east to Cartwright Road north of Russell, to Boundary Road, to Mitch Owens Drive and then on to Redeemer Christian High School via Limebank Road then Hunt Club briefly, and onto Prince of Wales Drive and Colonnade Rd. There are nine stops along that route and students either walk or get driven to the stop nearest their home.
Ottawa Christian School also provides bus transportation to Redeemer Christian High School students living along the following two routes:
1. Ottawa bus - originates in central/south Ottawa, heads west, then south to Barrhaven.
2. Stittsville/Kanata bus - starts in Stittsville, heads west, then south to Barrhaven.
Both routes pick up students from Redeemer and busing continues to Redeemer after first dropping students off at Ottawa Christian School in Barrhaven. At the end of the school day, Redeemer students are picked up first, then Ottawa Christian School students, and all students are then brought home.
Fees for the use of these buses are on a per family basis and schedules for routes are available through the school office.
We discourage families from ruling out Redeemer Christian High School as an option for their child simply because transportation seems a problem. Please contact our school office to see if there are other Redeemer families in your neighbourhood who may be interested in car-pooling, or who may have some insight about a bus route, etc.
